Renowned for its serene environment, the village stands as a testament to the vision of its developers and the commitment of its residents to maintaining a welcoming and enriching environment for individuals aged 55 and older.

The Beginnings: A Vision for Retirement Living

Leisure Village West was part of a broader movement during the mid-20th century to create planned communities tailored to the needs of retirees. The post-World War II era saw a growing interest in active adult lifestyles, spurred by longer lifespans and improved financial security among seniors. Developers recognized the potential of crafting communities that combined comfortable housing with recreational amenities.
Construction of Leisure Village West began in the 1970s, following the success of other similar communities in the region. The developers aimed to create a self-contained neighborhood with a variety of housing options and ample opportunities for social and recreational engagement. From its inception, the community was designed to provide a blend of independence, security, and camaraderie.

Its strategic location in Ocean County, surrounded by lush woodlands and close to the Jersey Shore, made it particularly appealing to retirees seeking a tranquil yet convenient lifestyle.
The village was designed with thoughtful details, including scenic walking paths, meticulously maintained landscaping, and a network of lakes and ponds that added to its charm. The emphasis on fostering social connections was evident in the construction of two large clubhouses, each offering a variety of facilities, including fitness centers, libraries, and multipurpose rooms for clubs and events.
